Generation 8, Part IV: Here kitty, kitty, kitty…

We open up with Noble examining the remnants of a very squished bug on the bottom of his shoe. I’m not entirely sure how, but there was a major roach infestation issue at the Lex house. While the house and family has experienced their fair share of roaches, never have they endured something of this size! Everyone had the flu, everyone was coughing and hacking, and there were at least three roach swarms skittering about! It was truly disgusting.
And who is to blame, you ask? Why, no other than Monica Lex herself! Darn Pleasure sims… grrr… she decided that kicking over the trash bin was an excellent way of communicating her teen angst. Thanks a lot, Monica. Good thing I’m shipping you off to college! See ya!

With Monica gone and no longer causing chaos, the boys were free to pursue their academics without fear of roach leavings on the soles of their shoes. But wait, who is that familiar face? It’s Leila Reeves, daughter of Quinn. Gotta love it when family comes home from school with you! She seems fond of her cousin Noble. Down, girl! What does this look like, the Royal Kingdom Challenge? Sheesh.

Of course, since I got Pets, I just HAD to give the Lex family their very own furry friend. I made a bandit cat in CAP and merged him into the house. Unix was smitten. Rex Lex was definitely a big hit with the household!
Pets add an interesting dynamic with an ISBI house. I wasn’t quite sure what the limitations were on viewing his needs/etc, so I just assumed they would be exactly the same for a sim. But let’s remember, pets function differently. Even if you can see their needs, you can’t control them (without a cheat). So it was pretty amusing trying to adjust to the personalities of a cat. At least you can influence what they do by praising and scolding.

Hey, Mao! Nice update. Ugh. I hate roach infestations. All the sims usually freak out over those darn bugs and end up getting sick. At least they didn’t include the mice from Unleashed in Pets! And Rex is adorable. Cats can be taught to use the toilet?! I so didn’t know that - cute! And Noble DOES look like he should be in one of those butter commercials (I think I’d rather watch Noble than Fabio anyhow!). But, great update!
Can’t wait for the next one.

Well I must say, this was an enlightening story. This was a wonderful story..cute cat. I read your other blog..the vo gerbits one and I just decided to take a peek at this one. Its very interesting. I don’t think I could do the ISBI challange, but you seem to be doing well. Did pets put a lot of strain on your computer’s memory card and RAM? And by that I mean moreso than the other expansion packs. What are your specs btw? I only ask because you say you experienced lag with the collar upgrade haha. I guess I’ll be reading backwards so I can know what’s going on.

Hey Eva! Thanks.
The unlockable stuff career lag is pretty much happening for everyone, from what I’ve seen. It’s not THAT bad, but it’s certainly noticeable. Other than that, I have noticed no changes with speed/etc except in loading times, which it did add to a little. I have a dual 3.7 processor with 3 gigs of RAM, x1900 Radeon 512mb.

Mao, I am drooling over your computer specs…I really need to buy some more RAM. Anyway, awesome update! Beautiful pictures, as always. And I love REX! He fits in so perfectly with the Lexes — he even matches their color scheme. Wow, I haven’t played Pets much yet — I had no idea about training cats to use the toilet, and what are those stars he was batting at? Neato. And what’s the university clock? Is that the hack that lets you jump to the final exam whenever you want? I wonder if we can use that for Legacy challenges…Uni just kills me, it really does.

Hey, Jen! Thanks! The stars are from the catnip mouse, which sends your favorite feline into a frenzy after playing with it. Rex was tripping in that picture, big time. Very funny! The college clock is the one with the Final Exam option. Very helpful. I’m not sure about the Legacy Challenge… but I can’t see how it would infringe on the rules any.

Great update Mao! I know I’m late in reading it, but things have been pretty busy for me! Anyhoo, the new University kids look amazing! All of them grew up very well, and I am still in love with Noble! Hehe, and about the adult film career…oh my! =D
